vick

man where can i even start. I really dont know how to have an opinion on this without passing judgement but ill try. being from a rural community the concept of fighting dogs is not that strange to me. really it doesnt even bother me that much. it is simply what pit bulls where bred to do. still it is supremely cruel. more cruel though is the ways in which the federal indictment describes vick and his partners at bad news kennels executing the animals after failing them in battle. several of the killing remind me of ways that serial killers begin their dessents into hell by torturing and killing animals. hanging, electrocuting, and body slamming dogs until they die is incredibly inhumane and just plain sick. hopefully vick himself will only be guilty of providing the property and betting on the dogs in fights. hopefully it is soley his cousins responsible for the terrible killings of these dogs. and if he is responsible, hopefully his example resonates through the dog fighting community and puts an end to a horrible and incredibly shady pratice.

nba draft

no doubt to me that durant should go first tonight. i really dont blame portland for wanting to go with oden. there is now way that it turns out to be another jordan situation. i would like to take this time to make the case for my favorite college player. rayshaun terry. the guy is going to go in the secound round. i hope that my mavs pick him because he has unlimited talent. i dont know why he disappeared this year but i think alot of it had to do with roy williams asking him to step aside at time so that the bigs could score. i just think that rayshaun wanted to do the best for nc to win another title. i think the guy has twenty point a night ability and is a great defender. so if the mavs can get him at either 34 or 50 then i will be elated. 50 will probably be to late. i dont know what to say other than i watched every game of the guys career and he can really score when asked to and does all the little things that win you games.

kobe and kg

i need to see kobe and kg playing together. I need it. kg to the suns would be such a waste of everyones time, even if they won the title the would be nowhere near the class of nba all time teams. kg and kobe with a desent supporting cast could be a dynasty for the next five years. i dont even know who they would need but it would start with a legit point. jordan farmar aint gonna cut it. luke walton and evans are good championship role players and farmar is too but with two greats like that what you need is defenders and three point shooters. insert damon jones and a usable five (not chris mimm) and you have a team that could challenge anyone. not a bad idea to get a greg buckner or adriann griffin type either. probably griffin because i think my mavs have buck locked up for the next two. if not available then drafting rashaun terry is a very viable option and one that could turn into your three of the future giving you a small ball lineup of farmar, kobe, terry, walton, and kg. not bad against the suns or the city. speaking of the lake show how about the only street player in the nba on that lineup. rafer alston and kobe would be fun to watch. i really dont care i just dont want to see kobe fuming at freakin smush parker anymore.

big bag of nothing

I sure picked a good time to become a pseudo-sports blogger. Absolutely NOTHING is going on in sports. Just take a look at the ESPN.com headlines...
Of all those stories, two of them actually involve an actual game, and one of the stories (Tigers win) is an afterthought to a story about something that hasn't happened yet. Everything else involves legal actions being taken against players, suspensions, firings, rumors, or Tiger having a cub. Wait...how can Tiger have a cub...he's a man. His Tigress had the baby. Get your facts straight, ESPN.com. When I have a kid...er...when my wife has a kid I don't want its brain filled with your falsifications.
What's the hot question of the day on ESPN.com? "Will Tiger's daughter play on the PGA tour?" My answer would be "Yes, but only because the PGA officials will think she's a man because Tiger named her Sam", but sadly that is not an option.
The most interesting thing in the above screenshot of ESPN.com is not actually any of the news stories. I'm actually more interested in what's about to happen to that kid's face in the Circuit City advertisement. I'm also interested in this Perlozzo guy that got fired...he and I both have two Z's in our last name.

finley

i know its late, but i would like to take this time and expound on the greatness of micheal finley. since he is the only mav since jason kidd that has inspired me to buy a jearsey, two in fact, and if you knew me in high school you know how much i love this man. he is the greatest maverick of all time until dirks next two years go by. he scored 20 a game here led the nba in minutes and was the only mav to play d in the nellie era. he also tried a cartwheel in the dunk contest. anyway too many people talked stuff about him in the metroplex over the last couple of days, so im saying here is to you micheal finley and congrats sir. congrats on a great career and the ring that makes it complete./

the difference

im going to go ahead and write this before game two so that lebron has the opportunity to make me look like an ass tonight. and once again i would like to say that this argument is more about the greatness of jordan than the shortcomings of lebron but because the cavs made the finals people are saying that at year 4 of their nba careers that lebron is better than jordan i give you the year four stats and acomplishments. first i will give you this years fine so far career year for lebron.

  • 25.8 pts per game
  • 8.3 assists per game
  • 8.3 rbs per game
  • all nba first team
  • first team all nba defense

now i will give you possibly the best year ever had by anyone in sports micheal jordans 87-88

  • 35.0 pts per game
  • 5.5 assists per game
  • 5.9 rebs per game
  • nba mvp
  • scoring title
  • nba first team all defense
  • defensive player of the year
  • all star mvp
  • nba slam dunk champion

so yes lebron did get his team in the finals and yes he is well on his way to becoming the nba's biggest star( mostly because kobe is so easy to hate). but the kid is just not yet the overpowering force night in and night out that jordan was for 10 years. not only that but his grand acomplishments have not even matched the pace that jordan set before he started winning his six rings and statues were built outside of stadiums. i know that lebrons got the billboards and the commercial, the style and the smile. but he doesnt have the handle, the mid range jumper or well scottie and phil. call me in three years when he has either devolped these and rings start piling up or he hasnt and the next one starts his journey towards greatness.

no he cant

before i tell you the myriad of reasons lebron is not jordan let me say this: in three or four years win both lebron and his team are up to the level of the bulls we will have this discusion again. now, as for similairities jordan was never in a finals that went more than 6, and lebron wont be in one this year. only difference jordan never lost a finals. thats what makes him the greatest, the fact that when you remember his biggest moments you remember him winning.. and winning.. and winning. six rings seperate him and the rest of the field. now as for the commercials, the lebrons is funnier than nothin but net, but not than its gotta be the shoes money. now everybody wants to say that maybe lebrons not just better, but you have to agree that hes better at this point in his career. no. look at the year four teams. lebron has two horace grants, a steve kerr and a john paxson ( both not white on lebrons team), no scottie pippen though. jordan had a rookie and overrated ho grant, a strait out of south eastern arkansas scottie and the oldest bill cartwright in history. maybe freakin orlando woolridge too. that was jordans second fiddle orlando woolridge. ill be back with the stats from lebrons very impressive year this year and from jordans possibly the best year in nba history four year as well.

lebron could be better than jordan

I know it's not the "cool" thing to say today, especially since he decided not to show up in Game 1 of The Finals. Don't forget he only scored 10 in Game 1 of the Eastern Finals and we know how that ended. But I think it's time to explore the ways LeBron could be better than Michael Jordan.
  • Michael Jordan had many talents before he retired multiple times, but when you think of him, what's the last thing that comes to mind? Passing. LeBron James is a much better passer, an ability that really helps when he decides he'd rather let Donyell Marshall lose a game for him.
  • Michael had Phil Jackson. Lebron has Mike Brown. He practically has to coach his team. At 22, LBJ is already commanding huddles and leading players much older and uglier than him (e.g. Zydrunas Ilgauskas). Mike Brown is a good defensive coach, but would you like to know why LeBron didn't score in the first half? Mike Brown insisted on the pick-and-roll, which made it easier for the Spurs to double team him. The fact that LBJ is doing what he's doing with this coach is amazing.
  • Michael had Pippen, Kerr, Cartwright, and Rodman and called them "my supporting cast."* How demeaning. LeBron has Ilgauskas, Hughes, Gooden, and some dude named Boobie, and he calls them "my teammates." Picky, I know, but to be a good leader you sometimes have to play semantics. Jordan wasn't always the best leader.
  • I like LeBron's commercials better.
  • Michael Jordan is an a-hole. Would it hurt you to let him make just one, Mike?
Okay, so I ran out of steam there at the end. Hopefully LeBron will give me some more material to add to the list by the time the NBA Finals are over, because MAN I hate the Spurs...

allow me to introduce...

BLAKE BEAVAN, the Texas Rangers 1st round draft pick.
1. I'd be more excited if his last name ended with an -er.
2. He likes to smoke Cubans. He struck out 11 of them for Team USA in '06.
3. He was Baseball America's Youth Player of the Year, which makes him sound ten years old.
4. He is a jackass...I mean, competitive. He likes to taunt and wave his fingers in front of the children he beats on the baseball field. Can't wait until he tries that on Manny Ramirez.
5. He will probably be traded in 3 years. The Rangers enjoy trading away top pitching prospects and getting virtually nothing in return.

Also, allow me to introduce myself. I am not Uncle T-rav, nor am I his nephew. I am the person he likes to refer to as "Dizzle". T-rav has agreed to allow me to post here , so I'll be posting alongside him until he realizes he's made a huge mistake.

not the next

just for the record lebron scored 7 less points in his frist finals game than jordans lowest ever finals total. 22 less than jordans first ever finals apperance. lebron will be and is great, but lets all take some time to appreciate the current all time great in this series, one tim duncan. by the way mavs fan, so i hate him.

sports stuff

id love to talk about the mlb draft but god i dont care. the amount of life that it sucks from me is unimaginable. so i guess ill talk about something else i cant manage to care about. so kevin durant cant bench 185. i bench at least 270 so does anybody want to draft me? no, cause i cant play and kd can. yes i called him kd. simply because he is kg reincarnate ( although i would have to check with the buddist community to check on if reincarnation before death or even retirement). this kid is great and by great i mean possibly top ten all time great. he has that much talent. oh how i hope he doesnt turn into darius miles and i catch hell for years after. please kd, dont do that to me.

donavan

just so im on record, what billy donavan did was goofy. It hurt both him and the magic who needed a billy donavan to be their coach. now if they get stan van gundy without giving the heat compinsation then they may be allright, but how does donavan get players to make four year comittments to him when his last pact lasted not four days. lebrons a god (not the god a god), spurs in 6.

thoughts on the day

Heres to the a-rod haters. that game winner last night was so sweet. dont confuse me with a yankee fan though my alligance belongs to the rangers, but since they suck, i'll tune in with the rest of america to yanks-sox.

why do teams forget that just because they have a franchise player that they need something around him. Kobe's got no help. Lebron has no chance in the finals despite his greatness; and the titans have let the walls crumble down around vince young after just one season. sure it wasn't their fault that pac man is an idiot, but good god this was supposed to be a building year. not only did they fail to add any talent but they didnt get a running back, didnt sign one reciever, and their ok defense is a little less ok. not to mention no pac man speacial teams magic. how does anybody expect this kid to win. maybe he'll make it to the playoffs someday, but unless jeff fisher gets parcells like personel controll, we have our generations archie manning.

Tank Johnson got a fair suspension. hope he can really turn it around. he is saying the right things, and he's good. so maybe he just has to change a little.

As a north carolina fan ( someone told me thats where jordan went as a kid and it stuck), brandon wright is not nba ready. he'll be great, but possibly jermain oneal three years down the line great. Durant on the other hand is nba ready and is maybe the kg, t-mac crossover that makes a real impact on the game and give lebron a run after the jordan clone gone wrong retires. oden will be great but i dont think good enough to win multiple titles. I cant wait to find out who will be this years josh howard. any chance the next time we ask that question it reads who will be this years daniel gibson.

Cavs in the Finals

let me start by saying that the lebrons are going to be killed in the finals by san antonio. but holly christ where has boobie gibson been all year. a guy who was moved off the point in college because he cant function with ball pressure scores 19 in the fourth to beat detriot. I presonally believe that the kids got something and loved him at UT but the last three games have been totally unexpected. it was like lebron took over game 5 and then took over danny gibsons body in game 6 to beat the triple teams. also am i crazy or is lebron the least graceful singular basketball talent ever. I just saying the guy is the second best player in the league and he loses his dribble more than joe akward colored tight shorts and goggles at the local church league. here's hopeing that lbj is jordan good and all he need is to get to the finals and jesus wont let him lose.

on a differnt note get of a-rods nuts. he is just great. thats all he is. that should be enough. even in new york.
